The club meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, except during February and August. During the meetings the club has a business meeting, a program (speaker, workshop, or activity), and ends with a luncheon hosted by one of our members. Meetings take place at a regular location near Glyndon, MD but also sometimes take place offsite for a tour, or at a members home.
Guest speakers during the program include nationally and regionally recognized horticulturists, arborists, gardeners, flower show judges, photographers, IPM specialists, and more.Â
Our workshops and activities have included informative sessions on making Mason Bee houses, creating wreaths for the holidays, building hypertufa pots, creating holiday center pieces for senior facilities, designing and creating special exhibitions at local historical venues such as Ladew Gardens and Hampton Mansion, having seasonal fundraisers, and much much more.
Meetings often take place at inspiring locations throughout the region. Past locations have included Hampton Mansion, The Margaret Cleveland, Northview Gardens, Cylburn Arboretum, Mt. Cuba Center, and more. Field trips are always fun and a great source of inspiration and camaraderie amongst the members.
Lunches are lovingly prepared and are as simple as a salad made with local produce, fresh bread, and seasonal fruit or be more lavish with soups, hot dishes, desserts, festive drinks, and more. It varies each month depending upon the desires of the hostess, her team of volunteers, and the season.
